Coastal Defiance Design

What to Expect

A Departure from the "Cookie-Cutter" Standard

Take a look around any harbor in Canada, and you’ll notice a trend: most vessels look exactly the same. The market is flooded with fiberglass boats designed for fair weather and clean water. While fiberglass is often marketed for low maintenance, it forgets the reality of our coastlines. Our waters are littered with debris and governed by challenging tidal flows where "missing the object" isn't always an option.
At Coastal Defiance Design, we don’t build for the showroom; we build for the water we actually live on.

Why We Defy Fiberglass: The Aluminum Advantage

We choose aluminum for our hulls because it is strong, durable, and long-lasting. It is the gold standard for commercial vessels for a reason. While some fear corrosion, modern naval architecture has tamed that weakness. By utilizing advanced transducers and cathodic protection systems, we mitigate hull corrosion, giving you a vessel that can handle year-round operations in the most demanding environments.

Our Design & Build Workflow

We believe it takes a community to build a world-class ship. We act as the architectural bridge between a digital dream and a physical powerhouse.

  • Precision Design with Fusion 360: We begin every project in Autodesk Fusion 360. This is a high-end Integrated CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software. It allows us to 3D-model every single bolt, bracket, and hull plate to the millimeter. By creating a "digital twin" of your vessel first, we ensure that every component fits perfectly before a single piece of metal is cut.

  • The Power of Partnership: We don't believe in hoarding work. We partner with specialized aluminum fabrication shops. This supports the local maritime economy and ensures your hull is built by dedicated masters of the craft.

  • CNC Precision: We send our dedicated Fusion 360 files directly to our partners’ CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines. These machines use our digital blueprints to laser or plasma-cut aluminum plates into the exact shapes we designed, which are then expertly welded to create the vessel's shell.

  • Expert Integration: Once the hull is formed, we bring in elite subcontractors for the interior and exterior finishing—handling everything from high-voltage hybrid propulsion systems to the latest marine electronics.

  • The "Live-In" Sea Trial: Our Final Month
Most builders hand over the keys after a few hours of testing. We don’t.
Once your vessel has passed all necessary inspections and documentation, we launch it and dock it at our full-time home marina. For one full month, we live with your boat docked beside us. We conduct daily sea trials in a multitude of sea states—from glassy mornings to heavy chop—to gather accurate, real-world data on how the vessel performs. Our testing Grounds are located in the Georgian Strait and Seymour Narrows

We don't hand the vessel over to you until we are certain it handles exactly the way we promised.
    Standing Behind the Work

We provide more than just a boat; we provide peace of mind:

  • 5-Year Equipment Warranty on installed systems.

  • Lifetime Service Calls to assess and mitigate downtime.

  • Continuous Improvement: As a young, hungry firm, our offerings will only get better as we grow. This is our baseline guarantee.
